Day Thirteen

Dear Michael,

I’m envious of your trip of a lifetime, and hope seeing more of God’s good earth, brings you closer to Him.

Shannon asked me to write a note letting you know what you’ve meant to me. I consider your help and example. early in my sobriety instrumental to my recovery. I will always remember your’ telling me that “alcoholism is like an elevator that only goes down but you can get off at any floor; you don’t have to ride it to the sub-basement.”

This punctured one of my primary rationalizations that I wasn’t that bad, Since getting & remaining sober has been critical to having a good life, I’m grateful to you.

Moreover, I’ve always liked you and recognize your desire to be a virtuous man, which of course you are!
